As documentary wedding photographers based in Columbia, Missouri, our goal is always to photograph the most important moments of a wedding day… the bride getting ready with her closest friends, the couple expressing their vows to each other, their first dance as married folk… but one thing that can really add color and mood to the final images from the day is the wedding bouquet.  Whether you’re having a rustic and vintage styled wedding, or something more shabby-chic and romantic, a bouquet is the perfect accessory to carry your wedding theme into your photographs.  Here are some examples of some of our favorite bouquets over the years…

Romantic and Shabby-Chic Inspired Wedding Bouquets

These include shades of pale pink, purple, sea green, and white… and flowers like pink dahlias, baby’s breath, pastel roses, oversized peonies, and trailing ivy or greens.

Colorful and Wildflower Inspired Wedding Bouquets

I absolutely love wildflowers, and sometimes the bright colors are the perfect accent to that white wedding dress.  Colors usually include bright pinks, yellow, coral, and orange, although as you can see below, hints of purple can really make a bouquet pop!  Flowers include pink peonies, coral roses, ranunculus flowers, yellow billy balls (or Craspedia), snapdragons, sunflowers, and local grasses or greens.

Unique and Alternative Additions to the Wedding Bouquet

Every year, we have brides who are all about DIY details. If you’re crafty (and confident!) enough, you can attempt to create a super unique bouquet by arranging something yourself. Alternately, you can add special details into your bouquet to personalize it. Some of our brides wrap their bouquets with heirloom handkerchiefs, or pin brooches or other memorable articles to the bouquet. You can also add in unique flowers to the final bouquet… a few succulents or proteas will go a long way to make your bouquet stand out.
